How can you get mad when they do this?

Today, Jeremiah and Isaac where playing in the dining room. I could hear them and the sounds let me know what they were up too... a skill I have learned for the sake of sanity. But then I heard the sound of Jeremiah getting into the dishwasher, in the kitchen. I asked him what he was doing. He said that he was getting a cup so he could have a drink of water. He knows how to get water out of the water dispenser-thingy we own, and he does a pretty good job of it. So I said, "Ok, just be careful." Next I heard a little bit of complaining from Isaac, followed by a quick dishwasher opening and closing sound, and finally the sound of water pouring. Oh oh, that is never a good sound, trouble must be brewing. So I put Eden down in the basinette and went to check out the noise, fearing the worst of course.

My boys apparently knew that they would get into trouble if they spilled water on the floor, and Jeremiah also knew that Isaac is not that good at using a cup yet, he is a terrible cluts under the best of conditions. So they came up with a remedy that would keep mommy happy and let them have a little independant drinking... All I could say was, "Thank you for using the towel. Becareful, and make sure you put the cups up when you are done." They are so clever, and I am afraid that they know it too.

sign language

Jeremiah and Isaac recently borrowed a DVD from a family in our ward. The DVD is one of the Signing Time series. We had it in our home for about 7 days, and the results were amazing. James and I have decided that we need to invest in these DVD's for our children and ourselves.

These video's don't really do justice to how well my boys learned some of the signs presented on this DVD, it is nearly impossible to get kids to do exactly what you would like them to do, but it was a good attempt and maybe the best attempt we will be able to achieve for a while. So here they are, for your viewing pleasure: (Don't you just love the drool dripping down Isaac's chin! And of course Jeremiah would have his clothes off AGAIN, he is such a free spirit! teehee)

Isaac's potty walk

I was looking at the old pictures on my camera, which I had not yet moved to my computer, and I found this video from December. Isaac is not potty trained, nor does he have any desire to become potty trained any time soon. But he does like to pretend to use the potty sometimes. He also has a funny personality which really gets a kick out of walking around doing funny duck walking, or squat walking, or different kinds of wiggle walks... this one was quite hilarious.

My Family

I have done a lot of things in my life: I have kissed the Blarney Stone, scuba dived on the Great Barrier Reef, eaten sushi in Japan and snails in Singapore. I have been to such obscure places as East Temor, Diego Garcia, and The Seyshelles. I am a college graduate, returned missionary, Veteran of Foreign Wars. But I have to say that the best thing I have ever done in my life, the most challenging and the most rewarding, is becoming a wife and mother. I absolutely love my family. Let me introduce them to you...

This is James, he is 6 years younger then me, and has tons of energy when it comes to playing with the kids... watching him with them really wears me out. But no one could ever love them more then he does. He likes to camp, hike, hunt, play on his XBOX 360, travel, and do anything that involves being with the family. He is a good 6 feet tall (about 1 foot taller then me) and has absolutely gorgeous brown eyes and black hair. He went to Japan on his mission, is working on his Bachelor's degree ( he only about 5 classes left), and has been in the Navy a cumulative 7 years.

How did I get so lucky? teehee.

This handsome young man is Jeremiah. He is almost 4 and he is so proud of what a big boy he is. He loves being a big brother to his sister and brother. He loves super heros, dinosaurs, and animals. His favorite color is green, his favorite food is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with ketchup on the side, his favorite animal is anything with teeth and a cool growl... He loves to play computer games. And he loves being with his daddy, and his new baby sister. Jeremiah is very affectionate, and very sensitive, and very shy. But once you have become his friend you will be his friend for life. He is very loyal and a hard worker, and he loves learning and being independant.

Jeremiah is very smart, but he has to do everything at his own time and in his own way. Because of this it has been a challenge for him to learn how to talk. But we have had fun learning to understand his unique communications and watching him as he has been learning and developing both his confidence and his communication skills.

This little monkey is Isaac. He will be 2 in April and thinks he is as old as or older then his big brother. You know the song, "anything you can do I can do better. I can do anything better then you." I think that this is one of Isaac's person theme songs... He has an infectious and heart melting smile, but don't let fool you... he is a little devil. His absolute favorite thing in life is chocolate milk, which he absolutely has to have first thing in the morning or he is a bear, and no one had better turn the lights on or interfere with him until after he has had his "fix". His favorite word right now is "mine". His favorite things are cars, particularly the cars from the movie "Cars". His favorite color is blue. His favorite animal is the giraffe. He has an elephants memory, and tends to hold grudges... but he loves to hug and kiss, and cuddle. And he loves to play. His favorite people are his daddy and his big brother.

And finally, there is Eden. She is 5 1/2 weeks old, and is the new love of our lives... she is in everyway a girl and we think that she is absolutely beautiful. She started life at 7 lbs 1 oz and is already over 10 lbs... so you can see that she loves to eat. And she is very good at expressing her opinions too. It is really weird though to have so much PINK in our house suddenly. It will be very fun to watch her learn, grow, and interact with her brothers.

Well this is the end of my first blog... This is me and my family.
